The TOEIC® Test
The Test consists of two sections with a total of 200 multiplechoice questions relating to occupational topics. The first section examines listening comprehension and the second section reading comprehension. The time limit for completion of all sections is 120 min.
The Listening Comprehension in the Test
The first section lasts 45 min and consists of 100 multiple choice questions. Four listening texts are played by audio cassette followed by questions. The four listening exercises relate to the following areas: picture description, question and answer, dialogue and short statements. The listening pieces and the related questions are only played once. Therefore notes must be taken during this part of the test, i.e. candidates hear the question and highlight directly onto the test sheet where the possible solution is.
The Reading Comprehension in the Test
The second section of the test lasts 75 min and, as with the first section, consists of 100 multiple choice questions. The questions relate to the areas of: incomplete sentences, identifying of mistakes and reading comprehension. The test time of 75 min begins with the reading of the texts. By the end all questions should be completed.

Advice for success in completing the Test
All questions should be answered; only correctly answered questions are marked, there is no deduction of points for incorrect answers. However, if the candidate leaves one or more questions unanswered, they may lose the chance of proving their true level of English. Nevertheless, if they should fall upon a question that they cannot answer, they should move onto the next and come back later to the unanswered one. Therefore they can feel safe in the knowledge that they answered all the questions that correspond to their level. It is also important to only mark one answer per question, because questions that have been given more than one answer will not be marked.
Furthermore, there is the possibility of learning this effective, strategic method of answering questions and identifying solutions through taking the official sample examination of the TOEIC® Test. For more details on this, click here.
